A prayer request for Holly's daughter Anne, who is laboring long and hard, and hasn't found the way to open yet. Her labor is 27 hours long already, and she isn't making any progress that we can detect. (She was able to sleep for 3 hours this past afternoon.) She also has a bad cough, which makes everything that mucgh worse.

The baby was born Tuesday, with a few complications, but basically okay so far. Tuesday, 2:08 pm, a boy. 6 1/2 pounds. He isn't named yet, and won't go home when his mother is discharged.

She had a high fever suddenly after her membranes were ruptured. The baby was stressed. The cord was wrapped twice around his neck, and had a true overhand knot in it. She still managed a delivery without mechanical intervention. The baby revived quickly, and seems to be alert, though his breathing was difficult for a while.

We the new grandmas were present and helping at the birth, holding legs, etc. Anne doesn't seem to still have any infection. We're watching the baby closely.

The baby goes home in the morning, unless something totally unexpected happens. All should be well from here. He had placental insufficiency syndrome, making him look (and act) overdue even though he wasn't.

Baby Porter stayed in the hospital two more days, since he was not yet completely stable. We are waiting for the new parents to remember to mail us pics, because we forgot our camera... He see him Wednesday, if all goes well. Thank you all for your prayers and good energy.
